A problem with the sound on your television can spoil your viewing experience, so in this article you’ll find our tips on how to improve your TV's sound quality.

If you lose the sound altogether:

  1. Check your remote control, decoder and television to make sure that the sound is turned on
  2. Disconnect your TV decoder, wait for thirty seconds and then reconnect it.
  3. Wiggle your HDMI cable around slightly to check that it is properly connected
  4. Check the condition of your HDMI cable
  5. Try using another HDMI cable to connect your decoder and television set

If the sound varies from one channel to another:

Remember to turn the “LPCM” option on in the TV decoder menu. Here's how to do this:

  1. Go into the decoder’s menu by pressing the key to the left of the "0”
  2. Use the arrows to scroll down until you get to the “sound” submenu
  3. Go to the “HDMI OUTPUT” option and choose the “LPCM” option

If your sound still isn’t at its best, go into your television set’s sound settings and turn the LPCM or PCM option on your television set on.

What is an HDMI cable?

HDMI is a universal form of connection used to carry both the picture and the sound. To find out if yours is a HDMI cable, check whether it has the acronym “HDMI” on it. If you can’t find it, this is what your cable should look like:
