What is VoWi-Fi?
VoWi-Fi (Voice over Wi-Fi) is a technological development that allows calls to be made over the Wi-Fi network.
It allows you to call in places where coverage is poor but it is also convenient indoors, when the cellular network cannot be captured.
To make a Wi-Fi call, you must:
- Have a Tango Smart, Tango Infinity or Tango K.O subscription
- Have a VoWi-Fi-certified smartphone with the latest software update for your smartphone and operator (TANGO 34.1)
- Be connected to a Wi-Fi network
NB: Tango does not support emergency calls over Wi-Fi.
Activating Wi-Fi calls
Make sure your phone is on the list of certified phones before activating Wi-Fi calls:
- - iPhone XS and XS Max
- - iPhone X
- - iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
- - iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
- - iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
- - iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
Other models will be added shortly.
To activate/deactivate Wi-Fi calls on an iPhone:
- Go to "Settings"
- Select "Cellular data"
- Then select "Wi-Fi calls"
- Activate/deactivate the slider "Wi-Fi calls on this iPhone"
Billing of Wi-Fi calls
Tango Smart and Tango Infinity subscription
Calls made over Wi-Fi are included in your subscription. They will be deducted from your voice units.
If you have used up all the voice units included in your Tango Smart or Tango Infinity subscription, Wi-Fi calls will be billed at the normal call rate.
Tango K.O. subscriptions
Calls you make over Wi-Fi will be charged by the minute at the normal rate applicable to calls made with a Tango K.O. subscription.
Making a Wi-Fi call
In Luxembourg and to countries abroad, you must:
Have a Tango Smart, Tango Infinity or Tango K.O subscription
Have a smartphone that is certified for Wi-Fi Calls with the latest software update for your smartphone and the operator (TANGO 34.1)
Be connected to a Wi-Fi network, with the mobile network not being available
If all these conditions are met, there will be an automatic switch to Wi-Fi when you make your call.
From abroad:
Currently, it is not possible to make Wi-Fi calls from abroad. For Tango customers, this service is only available on Wi-Fi networks in Luxembourg.
